Perretti Petroli S.P.A. was founded in 1980 through a partnership between Antonio Perretti Spa, already on southern Italy market of petroleum products, and particularly of bitumen since the 60s, and Mobil Oil Italiana, who wanted to ensure the broadest commercialization of bitumen produced in the refinery of Naples.
In 1990 Mobil Oil’s shares in Perretti Petroli were acquired by Kuwait Petroleum Italia, and after the closing down of the refinery in Naples, Antonio Perretti repurchased these shares taking total control of Perretti Petroli.
Since 1965 the company, at that time called Elbit – Antonio Perretti e figli, had a deposit in Taranto. The Elbit, besides having a bitumen warehouse, produced bituminous emulsions for road pavings carried out at that time with the cold-rolled process. This product was also put in drums to be exported to Malta or North Africa.

In 1973 Antonio Perretti S.p.A. became a founding member of SITEB, the Italian association of bitumen.

Over the years the product range grew with oxidized bitumen, fillerized and bituminous paints both for the building and for aqueducts of large diameter in steel and concrete. Most of the pipelines in southern Italy, Sicily and Sardinia have been waterproofed with our bitumen.

In 1992 the first southern SBS modified bitumen plant was set up. Most of draining pavings of the southern stretches of the A2, A14 and A3 Salerno-Reggio motorways, not to mention minor roads and airport runways, were built with modified bitumen by Perretti Petroli, in technical and commercial partnership with Agip / ENI SpA.

In 2006 the company started the production of modified and over stabilized emulsions with the new in line Denimotech Plant. Initially to supply the Pavimental/Austostrade group and subsequently for different subgrade and base course restoring works, including the maxi section 4b of the A3 Salerno – Reggio motorway.

Today Perretti Petroli keeps being present on the southern market of bitumen, both selling road bitumen and offering the widest range of bituminous products ranging from modified bitumen to acidic and basic emulsions, to the oxidized and fillerized, available in bulk and ingots, up to mastics for joints.

Throughout the years our ability to use bitumen in its different applications has grown to offer solutions tailored to the clients’ needs, under specifications requirements or tailor made.
